Review:
I Am Three’s It’s Never too late (except when it is) is written performed and produced by Guitar and double bass combo Irving and Hughes, It is an impressive self styled debut album that has a variety of influences oozing from every track, and with a growing fan base they look set for big things in 2010.
I Am Three’s music is full of inventive energy that is absent in so much of today’s releases, think, Zappa, Dylan, Beatles, and Garfunkel and you maybe getting close to the mark.
The album's vocal delivery bounces between Joe Cocker and Sixties girl group harmonies. The tempo and timbre of the songs likewise ricochets from the raucous ‘History’ and ‘Older’, with an unexpected blistering guitar solo, to the serene ‘Soldier’ and ‘Famous’.
The musical palette of I Am Three is clearly extensive and the young, inventive band seems to have enough energy to take on all that is thrown at them with skill. Demonstrating a rang of styles from Bangra to Country and western, the album swings dynamically from the raw and aggressive to the slow and sublime, to take the listener on a journey of sound through time and space.
