I Am Three - Road Movie

This week I Am Three have been watching the final cut of the "What We Dont Say", the road movie of thier European tour. Producer/Director Mina Vigrad is putting her final touches to the film and the band will soon announce screening dates, each of which will be accompanied by an unplugged set.

Hughes and Irving are the duo behind the contradictorily named I Am Three. This relatively gargantuan collection of 20 tracks wrestles with acoustica, underground jazz and a bohemian, almost gypsy punk folk, sometimes hitting each flavour in succession, sometimes all at once. It's warmly recorded with a demo styled enthusiasm, bringing out a live perspective that still accommodates their combined, multi-instrumental talents. Often seen grappling an acoustic guitar and a double bass, this LP is their musical family album. There are soundbites and out-take sounds along the way, as well as genuinely funny moments, as we join them on a trip of busking that would be as entertaining in a box car as it would in an intimate café bar. Like their name, this duo add up to quite a bit more than the sum of their parts.
